The Namibian Youth Chamber of Environment will be hosting its first arbour day campaign on Friday the 10th of October 2025, under the theme: Fighting plant blindness and loving one tree at a time.
As a growing national movement of young Namibians dedicated to environmental sustainability, NYCE is thrilled to announce our plans for Arbour Day 2025, and to warmly invite all partners, stakeholders and communities to join us in making this a truly impactful event.
This year, we are redefining arbour day. Rather than a single tree-planting ceremony, we envision a youth-led celebration of indigenous plants, environmental responsibility and pride in Namibia’s natural heritage. Our goal is to host simultaneous tree-planting events across three regions, coordinated by NYCE regional representatives in collaboration with local forestry offices.
In the Khomas Region, we are planning a two-part event:
Morning: A tree-planting ceremony with learners at selected schools, in partnership with School Environment Clubs Namibia (SEC).
Afternoon: A community dialogue featuring experts, youth organisations and residents, focused on plant conservation, food security and the urgent issue of plant poaching.
This vision builds on the momentum we’ve gained over the past year. NYCE has hosted national webinars on biodiversity and plant conservation, including insightful discussions with leaders from the MEFT, and a compelling youth-led presentation on illegal plant trade. These experiences have reinforced our belief that protecting the environment starts with cultivating a deep love and pride for plants among young people.
With over 300 members nationwide, NYCE is a dynamic network of youth from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared mission: to build an environmentally literate generation that puts the planet first. Our growing social media presence continues to amplify our message and inspire action.
Let’s make Arbour Day 2025 a milestone in youth-led environmental leadership. Together, we can plant the seeds of a sustainable future for Namibia.
